How much does Audible cost?
Audible membership costs $7.95/month for the Audible Plus plan and $14.95/month for the Premium Plus plan. There is another monthly plan that costs 22.95/month and gives you 2 Audible credits.
Besides the above monthly plans, Audible also offers two annual plans:
- Audible Premium Plus Annual (12 Credits): Costs $149.50/year
- Audible Premium Plus Annual (24 Credits): Costs $229.50/year
In the Audible Plus plan, members get unlimited access to Audible Plus Catalog but do not get any credits. Audible credits can be used to purchase Premium Audible titles, which form the major portion of the Audible collection. All other four Audible Premium plans offer credits.

The cost per credit is the least for the Audible Premium Annual plan (24 credits). It is only about $9.6, which is about $5 less than the basic Monthly Premium Plus plan that costs $14.95/credit.
Each Audible credit is equivalent to one Premium audiobook in Audible. You can purchase any audiobook of your choice regardless of its price.

Which Audible Membership Plan Should You Choose?
If you are starting out to listen to audiobooks for the first time, it may not be a good idea to go for the annual plans first.
The reason is simple. If you go for annual plans straightaway and soon realize that you don’t really love listening to audiobooks, you may feel that your money has been wasted.
Though Audible gives you a free audiobook to start with, it may not be enough to decide whether you would like audiobooks in general or not. So, taking the monthly membership for a couple of months may give you a better idea of your interest in audiobooks.
Once you are sure that you would actually love audiobooks, then only go for annual plans or plans with more credits which will be cheaper for you in the long run.
However, if you feel that you don’t really like audiobooks much, then you may consider any of these two options:
- Get the cheaper Audible Plus plan
- Cancel your membership
If you cancel your Audible membership, you won’t lose any audiobooks that you had already purchased. Besides, you can rejoin Audible again whenever you want. there is no restriction.

I like listening to Audible I just don’t get a lot of time to do this. I currently have 8 unused credits in my account and am considering cancelling but don’t want to lose my credits. What is a better way to enjoy Audible for me? I don’t understand what the $7.95/month for the Plus plan get’s you?
Also, I’m considering getting this for my mom. Is there some kind of play where I can share credits with her?
